Sexual Harassment InfoQuestions about Sexual Harassment?Everyone who works for a living has a right to a work place free of harassment and discrimination. Sexual discrimination is still pervasive in the work place but it is illegal both under state and federal law. If you are being sexually harassed, check to see if there is a company policy for handling complaints of sexual discrimination. Obtain a copy and follow the company policy as closely as possible. If there is no company policy, then report the sexual discrimination in detail to the supervisor or manager of the party who is causing the disagreeable acts. Make a formal statement of the circumstances and request that action be taken. If such an action occurs, be sure to obtain the names, addresses and telephone numbers of witnesses; write down the circumstances, remarks and what you did to report the incident to your employer; and note in detail what actions have been taken. It cannot be stated too often that sexual harassment and sexual discrimination in the work place are illegal. You have the right to recover for damages you sustain as a result of such harassment. If you or a loved one are the victim of sexual harassment, please contact the Becker Law Office at 1-888-4BECKER for a free consultation, or send us an E-mail from our "Contact Us" page. We can help, and we want to help. |
