Social Secuirty Disability InfoThere are two forms of disability allowed under the Social Security Act, SSD and SSI.Social Security Disability is allowed when the party meets the requisite number of earning quarters in which social security taxes were paid. SSI is supplemental income for a disability where the party has not paid the requisite quarters of social security taxes. SSD is considered compensable if an eligible person is unable to do any kind of work for which he or she is suited and the disability is expected to last a year or longer. People earning $500 a month cannot be considered eligible for either program.
